Re-election of the Chair and Deputy Chair of the ECDC Management Board
Dr Anni Virolainen-Julkunen, Management Board member representing Finland, was re-elected as Chair of the ECDC Management Board at the Board meeting on 15 November 2022.
Ms Zofija Mazej Kukovič, Management Board member representing the European Parliament, was re-elected as Deputy Chair.
The re-elected Chair and Deputy Chair will serve their third two-year term.
Dr Virolainen-Julkunen, MD, PhD, Specialist in Clinical Microbiology, is employed by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health in Finland and serves as Ministerial Counsellor. She has been ECDC’s Management Board member from Finland since 2011.
Ms Mazej Kukovič has been a member of the ECDC Management Board since 2016, and has previously served as Member of the European Parliament. She was also Minister of Health of Slovenia, in which role she was in charge of the Presidency of the European Council of Health Ministers in 2008.
