The launch of joint Response Measures Database

News

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission have recently launched their joint Response Measures Database.

The ECDC-JRC database is an archive of non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs), or measures, introduced by 30 countries in the European Union and European Economic Area in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The RMD is reviewed and updated every two weeks. In future, the frequency of updates will be adapted to the epidemiological situation.

Measures are recorded following a three-level hierarchical coding system (Levels 1, 2 and 3). These coding choices are in line with those of similar databases already published by ECDC (Data on country response measures to COVID-19 – see the data visualised on this page ) or by the JRC.  Compared to these, the ECDC-JRC database features additional NPIs and details concerning the implementation of these measures.

The monitoring of NPIs is carried out by ECDC through regular data collection and validation of implemented measures, from official public sources. The development of the web platform as well as the database maintenance and dissemination, is carried out by the JRC.
