Fellows attend Qualitative Research module

News

On 19 and 22 March MediPIET/EPIET and EUPHEM fellows participated in a two-day optional module organised by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), aimed at refining their proficiency in qualitative research methodologies.

The module provided fellows with practical skills for conducting, analysing, and reporting qualitative research using key informant interviews.

The course utilised a comprehensive approach blending pre-course, self-study preparation and a two-day instructor-led online session. During the pre-course phase, participants delved into qualitative research fundamentals through podcasts, pre-recorded lectures, and readings.

The course began with a lecture on qualitative research principles, followed by interactive sessions and hands-on exercises, where participants gained insights into real-world applications of qualitative research.

Guided by facilitators, attendees developed interview guides and refined their interview skills. Ethical considerations and key informant interview techniques were explored.

Discussions on qualitative data analysis and innovative approaches also enriched fellows' understanding of data analysis methods.
